This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to the Melrose community, represent and advocate for student perspectives in local decision-making, and develop practical skills and firsthand experience in cultural leadership, collaboration and civic engagement.
The Student Member serves a two-year term (from July 2026 – July 2028) as a voting member of the council, participating in monthly meetings to review and fund arts and cultural grant applications, support local artists and help strengthen Melrose’s creative community. In this role, you will bring forward the ideas and priorities of your peers, while also helping raise awareness of the council’s programs within the school community.
Open to students with a broad range of interests, not just those involved in the arts, the Student Member position is an opportunity to help support and fund local cultural programs that enrich all of Melrose. Students who are curious, engaged and motivated to make a difference in their community are encouraged to apply. The role offers opportunities to build skills in communication, collaboration, and leadership, connect with local artists and cultural leaders, and earn community service hours.
