If you can imagine a program where creative art classes, drama club, Robotics and the science fair intersect, that is Destination Imagination! DI is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization that inspires and equips students to become innovators and leaders. Each year, DI publishes seven new standards-based “Challenges” containing elements of STEAM, Improv, Visual Arts, Community Service, and Early Learning. The hallmark of DI is “no interference.”  Kids work completely independently on creative ideas and trial-and-error solutions to challenges. Parents do not assist with costumes, props, scripts, or ideas. visit our website at www.melrosedi.com to view our introductory video presentation and slide show to get a sense of our program. Then, come meet with us at our Coffee Office Hours to learn how to form your team!

As part of our commitment to offering free community arts opportunities, Arts for All is looking to possibly schedule FREE art-centered meet-ups for affinity groups* over the course of the year at the Big Yellow House.  If you are interested in such an event, please let us know at bit.ly/artsforallcommons so we can start planning!  *an affinity group is a collection of individuals who share a common identity characteristic.

The Melrose Cultural Council (MCC) is asking the community to help inform arts funding in Melrose for 2024. Local Cultural Councils across the Commonwealth send annual community surveys to help determine funding priorities for individual cities and towns. While the state agency, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, sets forth a specific set of funding guidelines for state arts and cultural funds, the result of the MCC survey will further help define funding priorities that are specific to the Melrose public. We appreciate hearing from you. Please take a moment to complete by clicking here.
